Sri Sathya Sai Veda Vani
A Compilation of Divine Discourses
by Sri Sathya Sai Baba on Veda
This is a compilation of discourses on Vedas selected by the late Subramanya Sastry, the vedic scholar through whom Swami gave the Sai Gayathri. Sri Sastry had compiled the divine discourses delivered by Bhagawan Baba on different occasions on Vedas and Vedic Dharma in the This was originally published in form of a book titled 'Sri Sathya Sai Vedavani', in the Telugu language, in 1987. The same book is now translated into English and is being published by Sri Sathya Sai Books and Publications Trust for the benefit of devotees who are not familiar with the Telugu language.
It is noteworthy to recall that two of the four elements of Swami's mission concern the revival of the Vedas and the fostering of the Vedic Scholars. To this end, Swami has undertaken a number of activities:
He established a Veda Pathasala in Prasanthi Nilayam, but, He had also invited renowned Vedic scholars to give training to the students in Vedic learning. In addition, He had arranged for conducting a Veda Purusha Sapthaha Jnana Yajna for the first time in Prasanthi Nilayam in the year 1962, as part of the Dasara celebrations. Ever since, this Veda Purusha Sapthaha Jnana Yajna is being conducted every year in Prasanthi Nilayam, for over four decades. Along with this yajna, a "Prasanthi Vidwan Maha Sabha" (An Assembly of Vedic scholars) was also being held from the year 1965 in which renowned Vedic scholars participate. Bhagawan has been giving scintillating divine discourses in Vedas and Vedic Dharma every year for about a week, as part of this yajna. He was also arranging for the delivery of enlightening lectures by the Vedic scholars during the yajna. As a mark of recognition of the services rendered by late Sri Ghandikota Subrahmanya Sastry, a renowned Vedic Scholar to the revival and propagation of the Vedas, Bhagawan had established the "Sri Sathya Sai Ghandikota Subrahmanya Sastry Veda Parishad" on the fourteenth October 1986.
