Blood Donation Drive, week of Guru Pournima, 2007

The winter Blood appeal is upon us again. Another opportunity is presented to us to serve the country we live in.

Service Coordinators will organsise blood donations by eligible participants during the week of Guru Poornima in 2007; between 23rd July and 29th July.

We will:
  1. Contact the local Red Cross Blood Bank on 131495 right across Australia and inform them about our aim.
  2. Invite a member of the Red Cross to give an inspiring talk before 23rd July about the importance of blood donation, and how this small service can save many lives.
  3. Discuss the most suitable method for the centre members and ensure members are ready for this service.
  4. (4) Centre chairperson in collaboration with the service coordinator to organise group bookings if possible with the Red Cross at a nearest donation centre or a mobile unit. Alternatively visit the donation centres individually. (Previous experience showed that the group donations created much more fun)

National Blood Donation Day

Blood Donation

Blood is the ultimate life giving force to a human body. When we give blood and save a life, we actually grant the receiver of the blood yet another opportunity to work on their spiritual attainment, while also speeding our own. Hence Blood donation is a service which ought to be taken up by all spiritual aspirants without fail. Sathya Sai Baba's term for Blood is "Liquid Love".

Blood Bag Label explanation

An opportunity to share our blood is:

  • Opportunity to save a life;
  • Opportunity for us to understand that we have the capacity and necessary resources to keep someone else alive;
  • Opportunity for us to feel we own nothing even within our own bodies;
  • Everything belongs to the universe.

The Australian Red Cross has been urging people to donate blood for the last year or two, as they are short of supplies of this vital substance. We will come forward as an organisation to save Australia from this grave situation. So Sai Participants will share without ownership, and thus practise detachment.

Eligible Sai Participants are invited to join their Centres and Zones and friends, to give blood on or before Maha Shivarathri day, 16 February, 2007.

The Red Cross Blood Bank has issued us a CLUB CODE for the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation. All we need to do is:

  1. Make an appointment for yourself and your buddy (or buddies) with YOUR LOCAL Blood Bank a few days before the event.
  2. Attend to the donation and give the Club Code to the Nurse on arrival.
  3. We will be identified as members of the Sri Sathya Sai organisation when they enter the code into their computers.
  4. Make your very special donation.
  5. Please advise the Blood Bank when you make a group booking.
  6. Feel happy that you have helped save a life.

The Club Code Must Be used by all those donating, including your friends.

The Club Code is 3A SAI

Our effort is to make 5000 donations as selfless service. Those who cannot donate on the day can donate before or immediately after the date as long as they present the Club Code 3A SAI to the Blood Bank.

For further information, and regional donation centres for Sai Participants on Maha Shivarathri Day, contact your Group or Centre Chairperson, or Zone Coordinator. Local Sai Organisation contact information
