Announce: Australian Sai Medical Services Unit
Fiji Medical Camp - 15th to 22nd August 2009

Members of Sai Medical Unit of Sri Sathya Sai Organisation of Australia and PNG have been doing voluntary free medical service in rural Fiji for last two years. The team from Australia has been supported by members of Sai organisation and well wishers in Australia. The Australian team has been made up from members from various states. A few members from New Zealand have joined this project in the last visit. Members of Sathya Sai Service Organisation Fiji have supported and organised local needs for the team. Thus this is a united service project inspired by our beloved Swami.

Reports on past services has been posted on these pages. You can review past projects via the links in the left hand menu.

A team will leave on Saturday 15th August 2009 from Australia and return on Sunday the 23rd August 2009. All the members will be required to fill a registration form. Medical and Dental practitioners will need to be registered with Fiji Medical Council. Those who have been registered in the past will need to complete the re-registration form only.

Members of the team will be made up with Medical Practitioners (GP and any speciality), Dental practitioners, Dental prosthetist, Nurses, Optometrists, Physiotherapist, Pharmacists, IT skills, Management skills and general volunteers. All the members will travel at their own expense and contribute towards local travel, accommodation and incidental expense. In past some of the medications, provided free to the patients, have been purchased from local pharmaceutical suppliers. These have been financed by voluntary donation by the members of Sai organisation Australia, Fiji and well wishers.

Those who would like to join this service project - Love in Action, can register their interest by sending email or writing to Dr Gunu Naker. Kindly use our Contact page to contact Dr. Naker directly.

Any well-wisher who would like to support the project by way donation of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, hospital beds, and other forms of support are advised to contact Dr Gunu Naker directly.

In July of 2008, 37 members of the Sai Medical Unit along with 41 medical students from the Fiji University collaborated to deliver free medical servcies for over 6000 persons in rural Fiji. You can view a web album of this Love in Action here.

In June 2007, medical personnel from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and United States jointly provided the much needed service for large masses of people in the most rural and remote areas in Fiji at makeshift medical centres. They were able to attend to the needs of about 4500 patients. Details of this medical services camp are available at the following links:
