Sathya Sai Baba with ladies, Puttaparthi

Ladies Wing Visit
Puttaparthi, September 2007

“The feminine principle is something good, virtuous and wonderful. It is only when the women are good that the children will be ideal citizens. If the nation is to prosper, then the father and mother must be good. It is very necessary. Countries are in a state of chaos today; therefore, we must see that an atmosphere of peace prevails. For both peace and joy, it is the home that is most important. If there is no joy in the home, how can there be joy in the nation? So, we must experience joy at home first. Then, we should spred joy to the whole state and finally to the whole country.”— Baba

With the divine grace of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the pilgrimage to Puttaparthi was organised by the National Ladies wing of Australia in September 2007. A group of 188 ladies from all around the country departed Australia and formed a group in Puttaparthi on 29th September 2007.

The Spiritual Upliftment Plan was implemented nationally by way of various activities and workshops, resulting in many ladies being inspired to join the group to experience the close divine physical proximity of Bhagavan Baba.

The trip was a unique experience for everyone at an individual level with everyone gathered in the spirit of love, harmony and unity. Swami showered His Love and Grace by looking at the group at each Darshan and infused us with His divine energy.

It is a time to reflect within. What have we learnt from this trip? We may have stumbled many times in the implementation of the Spiritual Upliftment Plan in action. Being in Puttaparthi also posed many challenges. Ultimately as Swami has mentioned many times, the beneficial experiences that we gain are a result of our own feelings i.e. the process of reaction, reflection and resound.

Swami has said that future of the nation rests upon men and women. It is a primary duty of them to be the role model of the family. The Ladies Wing is the backbone of the Sai Organisation. It can provide support to all other wings. Our ladies are often in the forefront of many activities such as SSE teaching, service activities, and major celebrations where they prepare meals.

How can we make Swami Happy? The Sathya Sai Organisation can help us to achieve our goal. As Swami says, we are the embodiment of Truth, Right Conduct, Love, Peace and Non-violence. Women have been blessed with many virtues and they have exceptional strength. We as women have that strength to turn inward deeply and intensely to listen to our inner voice or our conscience all the time to find the divine spirit within. If we want to be called an ideal mother, wife, sister, or a daughter-in-law, we must step forward to purify our thoughts, words and actions. When we move forward with the spirit of Sai, with a pledge to transform ourselves, then only can we glorify our womanhood. It is only through self transformation, we can light the lamp of love into our family, community, nation and world at large.
